Hey, I went to Japan. An opportunity presented itself, and I took it. I had the most gracious hosts who took me to six cities in two weeks during which I saw places urban and ancient, tasted fish (for the first time in a dozen years), visited Buddhist Temples and Shinto Shrines, witnessed more manga / anime than I knew what to do with, and otherwise had a grand old time. In conjunction with my subsequent trip to Iowa, my travels effectively cut my summer down the middle, and I did it all while teaching a couple of online classes. All the traipsing and rambling means I’ve been neglecting my making, but I trust it filled up my creative bucket a bit. I’ve got an “end of summer to do list” to keep me on track before the fall semester gets going. Did I mention I may be the inadvertant face of the college?  Back to it.
