december

We’ve come to the last post of the year. I turn 33 next week, and we’ll wrap up the semester a couple weeks after that. Thanks for the memories, 2015. Here are a few thoughts:

-I traveled back home and saw family twice.

-I was granted tenure at LCCC.

-I traveled to new places, including Austin, TX and half a dozen cities in Japan.

-I renewed my passport.

-I spoke on a panel at a fancy pants fine art conference.

-I completed my first year as Department Chair (in department(s) with faculty who have been teaching at the college since I was in pre-school).

-I called my folks (almost) every week.

-I drew a lot of pictures and made a lot of things (though I’d like to have drawn and made more).

-I worked out art program articulation agreements with a handful of schools.

-I didn’t read enough (worthwhile reads).

-I went skiing for the first time. -I had a solo exhibition at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside where I also presented on my work and held individual critiques with students.

-I started eating kale on a regular basis.

-I benched 205 pounds and added squats and deadlifts to my routine (I got huge).

-I missed 5 weeks of workouts (see previous travel).

-I swiped right.

-In sports, my Hawkeyes completed a 12-win regular season (and I’ve got the pre / during / post game texts and phone calls to prove it).

-I attended my second and third NBA games.

-I re-watched the Bulls 1991 Finals run.

-I listened to a bazillion podcasts.

-I split a lot of pitchers with friends, weirdos, and jerks.

-I kept up with my bar tabs. -I picked up a couple of suits and pairs of boots.

-I flossed twice a day (almost every day).

-I forgot a lot of thoughts.
